The rapidly increasing competition and a major breakthrough in IT have made software developers pay attention to efficiency and productivity of all work processes. Consequently, there have been invented different programmes that can optimise companies' work. One of the most generally deployed formats is Word Document. Microsoft Word is a word processing application which is designed for creation of office documents, such as resumes, letters, fax cover sheets, reports, legal documents, brochures, instruction manuals and so on. It is an effective tool for students, business owners and even individuals to have got on their computers. The Word file format was introduced to the market by Microsoft. It was originally called Multi-Tool Word. The first version was released in the 1980s. Since that time, there have appeared several other versions, including the latest version that appeared in 2008. The next addition of Word is said to come to the market next year. It will contain a great many new features common to other programmes in the Office 2010. The 2010 addition will include new WordArt styles and effects supplanting the old ones. Though Word is a constituent of the Microsoft Office system, it sells as a standalone product and included in Microsoft Works Suite. Starting from the 2003 addition, the branding was changed to emphasize Word's identity as a constituent within the Office Suite. The company renamed Microsoft Word into Microsoft Office Word. Microsoft Word allows users to type, format and modify text to be printed or viewed electronically. Word is a low-cost word processing application. The application offers unlimited features and tools, and many users are familiar and widely use Microsoft toolbars. The word processing application provides tools to format fonts, add clipart, add page numbers, and create headers and tables. There is even an "office assistant" cartoon that can guide a user done the creation of a document or respond to any questions that arise. Microsoft Word's document formats are denoted either by a. doc or. docx file extension. The newer ".docx" extension denotes the Office Open XML international standard for Office documents and is used by Word 2007 for Windows, Word 2008 for the Macintosh. |
